O horário de verão, em vigor desde outubro do ano passado, acaba na primeira hora deste domingo (18). À meia-noite entre sábado e domingo, os moradores de 10 estados e do Distrito Federal devem atrasar o relógio em uma hora.
O ajuste vale para as regiões Sudeste, Sul e Centro-Oeste (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul e Distrito Federal).
Com isso, o horário no leste do Amazonas e nos estados de Roraima e Rondônia fica 1 hora “atrasado” em relação a Brasília, enquanto oeste do Amazonas e Acre ficam 2 horas atrás.
Economia de energia
O horário de verão foi instituído com o objetivo de economizar energia no país em função do maior aproveitamento do período de luz solar.
A medida foi usada pela primeira vez em 1931 e depois em outros anos, sem regularidade. Em 2008, ganhou caráter permanente e passou a vigorar do terceiro domingo de outubro até o terceiro domingo de fevereiro do ano seguinte.
O governo federal chegou a avaliar o fim do horário de verão neste ano, depois que um estudo do Ministério de Minas e Energia indicou que o programa vem perdendo efetividade. A análise mostrou que a intensidade de consumo de energia elétrica estava mais ligada à temperatura do que ao horário, com picos nas horas mais quentes do dia.
Porém, o Brasil enfrenta um período de estiagem, com hidrelétricas com níveis de água reduzidos, o que vem obrigando o governo a ligar as termelétricas (de operação mais cara) e até mesmo a importar energia de outros países.
Começa mais tarde
O presidente Michel Temer acabou editando um decreto que reduz a duração do horário de verão, e não o elimina. Assim, neste ano, ele começará em 4 de novembro, um fim de semana após o segundo turno das eleições, marcado para 28 de outubro.
A mudança foi um pedido do presidente do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), Gilmar Mendes, para evitar atrasos na apuração dos votos e na divulgação dos resultados do pleito. Um dos exemplos citados pelo tribunal foi o Acre, onde as urnas são fechadas três horas depois de a contagem de votos já ter sido iniciada nas regiões Sul, Sudeste e parte do Centro-Oeste.
